Fremeau voted MIAA Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The University of Olivet junior Owen Fremeau has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Indoor Field Athlete of the Week. He has earned this honor three times this season, including the second straight week.
Fremeau was the top NCAA Division III competitor in the weight throw and shot put at the Saginaw Valley State University Jet's Pizza Invitational. His mark in the weight throw, 60 feet and 10 inches, was a season best and placed him third overall of 36 throwers. It also moved him up to No. 10 on the NCAA Division III Performance List. Fremeau finished fifth overall out of 43 competitors in the shot put. His best toss was 51 feet and 1/4 inch.
"Owen is putting in the work at practice every day, and it is paying off as he continues to make improvements in his throwing events every meet," said Olivet head coach Karen Lutzke. "We are excited to see his continued development throughout the season."
The Comets are back in action on Saturday at the Central Michigan University Chippewa Invitational. Field events start at 12 p.m., followed by track events at 1 p.m.
