Fremeau named to 2025 All-MIAA Outdoor Track and Field First Team
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The University of Olivet sophomore Owen Fremeau has been selected to the 2025 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Men's Outdoor Track & Field First Team. All-MIAA honors are based on the student-athletes' performance at the MIAA Field Day. Event winners are first-team selections, while second-place finishers are second-team honorees.
Fremeau captured the MIAA title in the discus throw, hammer throw and shot put. His winning marks were 157 feet and 4 inches in the discus, 177 feet in the hammer, and 54 feet and 6.50 inches in the shot put.
"Owen had a tremendous MIAA Field Day," said Olivet head coach Karen Lutzke. "His hard work throughout the year paid off, as he won the MIAA title in each of his throwing events during the indoor and outdoor seasons. Owen is still learning and improving while working with Coach (Daustin) Martin. We are looking forward to seeing what he can do in his throwing events over the next few weeks."
Fremeau is only the second men's thrower in MIAA history to win the discus, hammer and shot put at the same MIAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The other was Josh Maddock from Albion College in 1902. The last person to win three throwing events at the same championship was Rudy Vlaardingerbroek from Calvin (College) in 1969 when he won the javelin, shot and discus.
Fremeau is now a three-time All-MIAA selection and a six-time MIAA individual event champion. He earned All-MIAA honors in 2024 for outdoor track and field to go along with his All-MIAA selection for indoor track and field this winter. Fremeau won the shot put and weight throw at the 2025 MIAA Indoor Championships and hammer throw at the 2024 MIAA Field Day.
