UOlivet’s Chandler and Fremeau set to compete at NCAA Division III Championships
OLIVET, Mich. – Sophomores DeVondre Chandler and Owen Fremeau from The University of Olivet indoor track and field team are set to compete at the 2025 NCAA Championships Friday and Saturday at the Galisano Training Center in Rochester, New York.
Chandler is competing in the high jump on Saturday afternoon at 12 p.m. He advanced to the championships with a UOlivet indoor record of 2.07 meters (6 feet, 9-1/2 inches) on January 25 at the Hillsdale College Wide Track Classic. The mark is tied for eighth of the 20 competitors in the field. Chandler is making a return trip to the NCAA Indoor Championships. A year ago, he finished sixth to First Team All-American honors.
Fremeau is in the first of two flights for the weight throw and shot put. The weight throw commences Friday morning at 10 a.m., while the shot put takes place Saturday morning at 11 a.m. In both events, each competitor receives three attempts before the top nine advances to the finals and earns three additional attempts.
Fremeau is seeded 11th in the shot put, with a 16.95 meter (55 feet, 7-1/2 inches) mark. He is seeded 14th in the weight throw with a 18.88 meter (61 feet, 11-1/2 inches) mark. Fremeau achieved these performances earlier this month at the MIAA Indoor Championships, and both are UOlivet indoor records.
The top eight finishers in each event will earn First Team All-American honors. The ninth through 16th-place finishers will be Second Team All-Americans.
