Men's track and field team falls to Tri-State and Adrian
The Olivet College mens outdoor track and field team competed this afternoon in a double dual meet hosted by Tri-State (Ind.) University. The Fighting Comets fell to Tri-State, 95-64, and Adrian College, 96-70.
The Olivet College mens outdoor track and field team competed this afternoon in a double dual meet hosted by Tri-State (Ind.) University. The Fighting Comets fell to Tri-State, 95-64, and Adrian College, 96-70. The dual against Adrian kicked off the 2004 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association schedule.
Overall, Olivet had three first-place finishes and five runner-up finishes. Senior Josh Toussaint (Lansing Sexton High School) clocked in at 11.3 seconds and 22.9 seconds for first-place finishes in the 200-meter and 100-meter dashes, respectively. Freshman Ruel Haughton (Detroit Osborn High School) was first in the long jump with a 202 leap
In running events, sophomore Dan Kimball (National City/Oscoda High School) was second in the 1500-meter run (4:40). The 4x100-meter relay was also second.
In field events, sophomore Mick Faasen (Belding High School) leaped 193 to finish second in the long jump. Sophomore Joe Cox (Flint/Carman-Ainsworth High School) was runner-up in the shot put (437 1/2) and javelin (15010).
The Comets are now idle until Saturday, April 10, when they participate in a MIAA double dual meet at Alma College. Albion College is the other participating school and action begins at noon.
