Men's swimming and diving team loses to Notre Dame, 173-102
The Olivet College men’s swimming and diving team got a feel for the Rolfs Aquatic Center pool where the 2009 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships will take place later this month by competing against the University of Notre Dame and fell to the Fighting Irish, 173-102.

The men had several standout performances against the Division I competition. On the leadoff leg of the 200 freestyle relay, sophomore Mike Harden (St. John's) broke the school record and recorded a NCAA Championships "B" cut with a time of 20.96 seconds. He also posted a season-best time of 1:49.64 in the 200 freestyle.
In the 100 backstroke, sophomore Kellen Beckwith (Farmington Hills/North Farmington) recorded a NCAA Championships "B" cut with a time of 51.10 seconds. He also set season-best times of 22.15 seconds in the 50 freestyle and 2:07.48 in the 200 individual medley.
Sophomore Rafe Maxwell (Bay City/Western) lowered his season-best time in the 200 butterfly by more than two seconds to 1:56.74. Senior Brad Voss (Lansing/Holt) clocked-in with season-best times of 1:00.56 in the 100 backstroke and 48.56 seconds in the 100 freestyle.
Olivet will return to Rolfs Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 19-21, for the MIAA Championships.
