Jackson’s goal pushes UOlivet past Alma, 1-0, in regular-season finale

OLIVET, Mich. – Freshman Marcel Jackson scored the only goal, as The University of Olivet men's soccer team celebrated Senior Day with a 1-0 win over Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Alma College this afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex. It was also the regular-season finale for both schools.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Olivet had a couple early chances to score but the shots were saved by the keeper. Alma's first scoring chance came in the 14th minute, but the shot was stopped by junior netminder Nicholas Van Port Fleet.
- Both teams tallied shots-on-goal later in the first half. None of them found the back of the net to keep the score tied at 0-0 at halftime.
- Senior Aidan Reynolds recorded two headers in the first 10 minutes of the second half, but each one was saved. In the 62nd minute, Jackson took a shot which went just wide left of the goal.
- In the 72nd minute, Jackson collected a pass from sophomore Jacksen Gil. He lofted a shot over a charging goalkeeper. The ball bounced three times and into the goal.
FOR THE COMETS
- Olivet ended the game with 15 shots, including 11 on-target.
- Jackson and Reynolds each registered three shots.
- Van Port Fleet made five saves to preserve the clean sheet in goal.
