Men's soccer team drops one spot in regional poll and seven in national poll
The 13-1-1 Olivet College men's soccer team has dropped one spot to No. 2 in National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Central Region Poll. In addition, the Comets slipped seven spots to No. 13 in the NSCAA Division III national rankings.
OLIVET, Mich. -- The 13-1-1 Olivet College men's soccer team has dropped one spot to No. 2 in National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Central Region Poll. Dominican (Ill.) University is the top ranked team. In addition, the Comets slipped seven spots to No. 13 in the NSCAA Division III national rankings.
Olivet split its two games last week. On Wednesday, Oct. 10, the Comets suffered their first loss of the season to Calvin College, 3-2. On Saturday, Oct. 13, Olivet bounced back to beat Albion College, 5-2.
The Comets are down five spots to No. 18 in the D3soccer.com Top 25 poll, which is voted on by a panel of coaches, sports information directors and media members from across the country, and is published weekly.
In addition, the NCAA has released its weekly statistical rankings. With its overall record, Olivet is No. 10 in won-lost-tied percentage at .900. As a team, the Comets are fourth in total assists (48) and eighth in total points (132). Sophomore Esteban Russell (DeWitt) is second in total assists (14) and assists per game (0.93).
