Freshman Danny Casey-Dunn (Lansing/Lansing Catholic) scored the game-winning goal, as the Olivet College men's soccer team came-from-behind to beat Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Kalamazoo College, 2-1, in overtime today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.
There was no scoring in the first half. Each team had just three shots. The Hornets got on the scoreboard in the fourth minute of the second half when Dane Carey converted a penalty kick goal. The score remained 1-0 until there was 2:50 minutes left in the game when a Kalamazoo player received a red card for denying a goal scoring opportunity with his hand. The red card resulted in a penalty kick, and junior Matt Manning (Charlotte) buried the shot.
With Kalamazoo playing a man down, Olivet took advantage with 5:33 remaining in the overtime session. Off a throw-in by junior Mike May (Mason), freshman Jake Jensen (Vicksburg) found the ball and slotted a pass to Casey-Dunn, who used the side of his foot to put a shot past the keeper.
