The Olivet College men's soccer team opened Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play with a 2-1 win today at Adrian College.
The Comets (2-5, 1-0 MIAA) led 1-0 at halftime behind an unassisted goal by senior Gabe Pringle (Grand Blanc) at the 5:17 mark. Olivet tallied what proved to the game-winner in the 55th minute. Freshman Justin Loveless (Mason) took a pass from junior Trent Bronsink (Byron Center/South Christian) and deposited the ball into the goal. The Bulldogs (2-3-1, 0-1 MIAA) scored their lone goal in the 72nd minute.
For the game, Adrian out-shot the Comets, 15-12. For Olivet, Loveless collected a team-high six shots and Pringle added four shots. Senior Will Drogt (Kewadin/Elk Rapids) played all 90 minutes in goal and made nine saves/
Olivet continues MIAA action Saturday, Sept. 24 when it travels to play Tri-State (Ind.) University at 2 p.m.
