Men's soccer team ties Alma 2-2
The Olivet College men's soccer team tied Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association foe Alma College, 2-2, today in double overtime at Bahlke Field in Alma.
The Olivet College men's soccer team tied Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association foe Alma College, 2-2, today in double overtime at Bahlke Field in Alma.
Alma held a 2-0 lead at halftime. The Fighting Comets rallied with two goals in the second half.
Freshman Trent Bronsink (Byron Center/South Christian High School) scored the first goal in the 56th minute on a double assist by junior Frank Barretta (Macomb/Lutheran North High School) and sophomore Rudy Pulido (Holt High School). Junior midfielder Jason Shinabarger (Grand Blanc High School) scored the tying goal on a pass from sophomore Gabe Pringle (Grand Blanc High School) with just under seven minutes left in regulation play. Both teams had their chance to win the game in overtime.
Sophomore Will Drogt (Kewadin/Elk Rapids High School) played the entire game in goal and faced 29 shots. He was credited with 12 saves.
"Will did a tremendous job in goal for us," said third-year Head Coach Matt Wait '99. "The guys did an excellent job coming back from two goals down."
Olivet wraps up the 2003 season this Saturday, Nov. 8 when it hosts future MIAA member Tri-State (Ind.) University at 1:30 p.m.
