The Olivet College men's soccer team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 6-0 win today at Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association foe Adrian College.
The Olivet College men's soccer team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 6-0 win today at Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association foe Adrian College.
Sophomore midfielder Gabe Pringle (Grand Blanc High School) scored the first Fighting Comet goal in the fourth minute on an assist from freshman midfielder Trent Bronsink (Byron Center/South Christian High School). In the 19th minute, sophomore Rudy Pulido (Holt High School) made the score 2-0 on a pass from junior forward Frank Barretta (Macomb/Lutheran North High School).
In the second half, senior midfielder Eric Cole (Eaton Rapids High School) notched his team-leading fourth goal of the season in the 50th minute after intercepting a Bulldog pass. Sophomore forward Ben Rau (Sparta High School) added a goal from Barretta in the 61st minute, and 20 minutes later assisted on Pulido's second goal of the contest. Junior defender Ahmad Zeaiter (Kalamazoo/Portage Northern High School) scored his first collegiate goal in the 84th minute on a penalty kick.
In goal, freshman Brad Polcyn (Marshall High School) played the first 22 minutes of the game and made one save. Sophomore Will Drogt (Kewadin/Elk Rapids High School) finished the game and recorded two saves.
Olivet (2-6, 1-1 MIAA) is next in action on Thursday, Oct. 2, when it hosts Kalamazoo College at 3:45 p.m. The game was rescheduled following thunderstorms last Wednesday.
