Men’s lacrosse team loses at Albion

ALBION, Mich. – The Olivet College men's lacrosse team fell to defending Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) champion Albion College, 33-3, this afternoon at Davis Athletic Complex in Albion.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Britons scored 13 goals in the first quarter and five more goals in the second quarter to take an 18-0 halftime lead.
- Albion stretched its lead to 23-0 in the opening seven minutes of the third quarter.
- The Comets scored their first goal at the 6:20 mark of the third period when freshman Kobe Robinson tallied an unassisted goal.
- The Britons put three more goals on the scoreboard in the third stanza, including the last one with two seconds left in the quarter, to enter the fourth quarter with a 26-1 lead.
- Freshman Casey Petersen netted a goal for Olivet early in the fourth quarter.
- Albion added four more goals to go up 30-2.
- Senior Cullen Haesler scored the Comets' final goal at the 4:31 mark.
- The Britons answered with a goal 15 seconds later and then capped their scoring with a pair of goals in a 28-second span.
FOR THE COMETS
- Senior Cameron Bazin did not find the back of the net; however, he had a team-high 16 shots.
- Haesler recorded a team-best seven ground balls.
- Freshman Connor Hamm caused a game-best three turnovers.
- Freshman goaltender Jake Steele collected 20 saves.
FOR THE BRITONS
- Anthony Zugaro led the way with seven points on three goals and four assists.
- Scott Shepard tallied three goals and three assists for six points.
- Brady Lawrence had five points on four goals and one assist.
- David DiRado also finished with five points on two goals and three assists.
- Alec Palmer and John Cooke were next with three goals and an assist for four points apiece.
- Three goalies combined to play the 60 minutes, and each recorded three saves.
UP NEXT
- Olivet hosts Trine (Ind.) University Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. The game is a part of a lacrosse doubleheader at the Cutler Athletic Complex. Prior to the men's game, the Comet women play Adrian College at noon. Both teams will celebrate Senior Day prior to their contest.
