Kretschman named MIAA Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The University of Olivet junior Porter Kretschman has been selected the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Athlete of the Week for men's basketball.
Kretschman led the Comets to two wins last week to win the outright MIAA Championship. He averaged 17.5 points and 15.5 rebounds over the two games. Kretschman began the week by scoring 23 points and grabbing 18 rebounds against Adrian College and ended the week with 12 points and 13 rebounds at Trine University (Ind.). For the week, Kretschman made 14-of-17 baskets (82.4 percent) and 7-of-8 free throw (87.5 percent. He also recorded five assists and three steals, while making only three turnovers in 66 minutes.
The Comets will host the 2026 MIAA Tournament semifinals. As the No. 1 seed, Olivet will face the winner of the No. 5 seed Albion College versus No. 4 seed Trine first-round game on Friday night at approximately 7:30 p.m. The other semifinal features No. 2 Hope College against the winner of the No. 6 seed Adrian at No. 3 seed Calvin University game at 5:30 p.m.
