Kretschman earns MIAA Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week honors
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The University of Olivet sophomore Porter Kretschman has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week.
Kretschman averaged 14.5 points and 15.5 rebounds in leading the Comets to two wins. He began the week by scoring 19 points and grabbing 17 rebounds in a 78-64 victory on Wednesday night at Adrian College. Kretschman then tallied 10 points and 14 rebounds in a home win on Saturday afternoon against Trine University (Ind.). For the week, he shot 62.5 percent (10-of-16) from the floor and 81.8 percent (9-of-11) from the free throw line. Kretschman also had six assists and three steals.
The wins propelled Olivet into a tie for first with Calvin University and Hope College in the MIAA standings with matching 5-1 records. The first half of the conference slate ends on Wednesday night, with the Comets traveling to play Calvin and Hope hosting Albion College.
