Balanced scoring, two double-doubles help UOlivet defeat Kalamazoo, 95-68

OLIVET, Mich. – The University of Olivet men's basketball team had a balanced scoring attack and two players recorded double-doubles, as the Comets defeated Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Kalamazoo College, 95-68, this afternoon inside the Cutler Event Center.

FOR THE COMETS
- Junior Nathan Richardson posted a double-double with game-highs in points (23) and assists (11). He also had six steals and committed only one turnover in 33 minutes.
- Sophomore Porter Kretschman also recorded a double-double with 14 points, while grabbing a game-best 11 rebounds.
- Freshman Alex Genuise contributed 15 points.
- Sophomore Sam Howard and freshman Sean Shenker each scored 11 points.
- Freshman Levi Stambaugh netted 10 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After the Hornets made two free throws to start the game, Richardson drained a three-pointer for Olivet. The Comets pushed their lead to four points before Kalamazoo came back to take an 18-16 lead. Howard connected on a three-pointer to ignite a 20-2 run to put Olivet ahead 36-20 at the 4:17 mark. The Hornets used a 14-3 spurt to trim their deficit down to five points. Genuise made a layup at the buzzer to put the Comets ahead 41-34 at halftime. In the second half, Olivet's lead swelled to as many as 36 points, 83-47, with 7:07 left in the game.
