Olivet drops 66-50 game at Elmhurst

ELMHURST, Ill. – The University of Olivet men's basketball team was on the wrong end of a 66-50 final to Elmhurst (Ill.) University in a non-conference contest tonight at R.A. Faganel Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- There were a couple tied scores in the first five minutes and 19 seconds of the game. The Bluejays went ahead by seven points, 22-15, at the 8:51 mark. Olivet scored the next four points to trail by three points. The Comets did not get any closer for the rest of the half. Elmhurst stretched its lead to 11 points on four occasions, including 36-25 at halftime.
- In the second half, the Comets put the first eight points on the scoreboard and forced the Bluejays to call a timeout. Elmhurst answered with a 16-2 run to go up 17 points, 52-35. Olivet could not recover from the deficit.
FOR THE COMETS
- Sophomore Conner Schipper recorded a double-double, scoring 16 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
- Sophomore Nathan Richardson tallied 11 points.
- Freshman Porter Kretschman pulled down a game-high 18 rebounds, including seven on the offensive glass. He also scored eight points.
UP NEXT
- Olivet is off until next Friday and Saturday, November 22-23, when it travels back to Chicagoland for Lee Pfund Classic, hosted by Wheaton (Ill.) College. On Friday night, the Comets face the University of Dubuque (Iowa) in a first-round game at 6 p.m. ET. The other opening round game features the host Thunder against Rockford (Ill.) University. The losers play each other in the consolation game on Saturday night at 6 p.m. ET, followed by the winners in the championship game at approximately 8 p.m. ET.
