Men’s basketball team celebrates season with banquet
The Olivet College men’s basketball team celebrated its 2007-08 season with a banquet April 20 inside the college’s Oaks Dining Room.
The Olivet College men's basketball team celebrated its 2007-08 season with a banquet April 20 inside the college's Oaks Dining Room.
As part of the banquet, awards were given out to the players for their performance on and off the basketball court during the season.
Senior Brandon Way of Detroit was selected as the Most Valuable Player. The Most Improved Player was junior Brad Dugan of Oxford. Senior Paul Smith of Jackson was named the Coaches Award.
Smith and Way shared the Captain Award. Freshman Mike McClary of Bellaire received both the Chairman of the Boards and Best Defensive Player awards. Senior Jeff Cooper of Dowagiac was presented with the Best Free Throw Shooter award. Mike McClary along with his older brother, Brandon, were co-recipients of the Newcomer of the Year award. Senior Evan Jones of Charlotte received the Scholar-Athlete Award.
The Comets will open the 2008-09 season Nov. 18 when they travel to play Aquinas College at 7:30 p.m.
