The Olivet College men’s basketball team closed the first half of its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) schedule with a 73-43 loss to Albion College tonight at Kresge Gymnasium in Albion.

After the Britons (5-12, 3-4 MIAA) led 9-3, the Comets (4-13, 2-5 MIA) went on an 11-0 run to take a five-point lead, 14-9. Olivet continued to lead until the 4:09 mark when Albion tied the game at 22-22. The Britons broke the game open with an 11-0 run to take a 33-22 lead with 46 seconds left before halftime. A three-pointer by junior Brandon Way (Detroit/Southwestern) made the score 33-25 at half. Albion carried its momentum into second half, leading by as many as 31 points with three minutes left.
The Comets were led by freshman Andy Sierminski (Jackson/Lumen Christi), who scored 12 points. Way chipped in with 10 points. Freshman Blake Brannick (Jackson/Lumen Christi) came off the bench to grab a game-high six rebounds.
Evan Way was the only Briton in double figures with 13 points. Four other players scored nine points a piece. Jim Cash had a team-high five rebounds, while Dean Raven recorded five assists.
Olivet travels to play Alma College Saturday, Jan. 27, at 3 p.m.
