The Bulldogs (8-14, 2-9 MIAA) jumped out to a 7-3 lead, but the Comets (6-16, 2-9 MIAA) answered with an 8-point run to take their own four-point lead. After Adrian took a 14-11 lead, Olivet scored the next 10 points to go up by seven points. The Comets went on to lead by as many as eight points, 29-21, with a little more than one minute left before halftime. After 20 minutes, Olivet held a 30-24 lead.
The Comets tallied the first five points of the second half to take their largest lead of the game, 35-24. Over the next six minutes, the Bulldogs had a 17-5 run to take their first lead, 41-40, since the 12:31 mark of the first half.
Following a 45-40 Adrian lead, Olivet scored six straight points to grab the lead back, 46-45, with nine minutes remaining in regulation. Three lead changes and three tied scores happened in the next seven minutes. After a 58-58 tie, Adrian made four free throws in the final minute to seal its win.
For the game, both teams had identical numbers from three-point range (five-of-17) and the free throw line (11-of-18). The Bulldogs made 23-of-54 field goals, while the Comets hit 22-of-48.
Senior Gerald Dozie (Detroit/Southeastern) recorded his 12th double-double this season and 15th in his career with 19 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Senior Greg Ravy (New Orleans, La./L.B. Landry) contributed 12 points. Senior De'Andre Pruitt (River Rouge) added nine points and eight rebounds. Pruitt is two points shy of 1,000 career points.
Olivet continues conference play Saturday, Feb. 11, when it hosts Calvin College at 3 p.m.
