Men's basketball team loses to Albion, 73-56

Despite senior Gerald Dozie (Detroit/Southeastern) posting his ninth double-double of the season, the Olivet College men's basketball team fell to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Albion College tonight at the Upton Center in Olivet.
Dozie scored 16 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out three assists in 35 minutes. Seniors De'Andre Clement (Saginaw) and Greg Ravy (New Orleans, La./L.B. Landry) were next with 12 points apiece.
In the first half, the Britons (15-2, 6-1 MIAA) led by as many as 14 points, 23-9, at the 10:35 mark. Over the next four minutes, the Comets (5-13, 1-6 MIAA) went on a 7-0 run to cut their deficit to 23-16. At halftime, Albion led 35-24. The Britons extended their lead to 22 points in the final minutes of the game.
Albion, ranked sixth in the latest NCAA Division III Top 25 poll, was led by Mike Bailey, Brandon Crawford and Evan Way, who tallied 15 points each. Zak Silas added 13 points. Crawford, Way, Jim Cash, Garrett Gibbons and Drew Yancey recorded four rebounds apiece. The four by Crawford was a season-low and eight below his average entering the game.
Olivet begins the second half of its 2006 MIAA schedule Saturday, Jan. 28, when it hosts Alma College at 3 p.m.
