Men's basketball team loses to Adrian, 81-63
The men’s basketball team ended the 2004-05 regular season with an 81-63 loss today at Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Adrian College at the Merillat Sports and Fitness Center in Adrian.
The men's basketball team ended the 2004-05 regular season with an 81-63 loss today at Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Adrian College at the Merillat Sports and Fitness Center in Adrian.
The Fighting Comets (11-14, 5-9 MIAA) led by three points, 22-19, at the 5:15 mark of the first half. The Bulldogs (14-10, 8-6 MIAA) then closed the half with a 21-4 run to take a 40-25 lead at halftime. Adrian's lead swelled to 24 points on two occasions in the second half. The closest Olivet would get was 16 points.
Senior Ronnie Pearson (Holly) and junior Derek Kurtz (Jonesville/Hillsdale) tallied 12 points apiece for the Comets. Junior Greg Ravy (New Orleans, La./L.B. Landry) chipped in with 10 points. Sophomore Jerame File (Jackson/Hanover-Horton) grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.
The Bulldogs were led by Brian Schaefer, who tallied 22 points and seven assists. Adam Novak, Anthony Thornton and Earl Ingram had 12, 11 and 10, points, respectively. Novak and Billy Collins, Jr. pulled down five rebounds each.
Olivet, the #5 seed, will travel to play #4 seed Adrian Wednesday, Feb. 23, in a first round game of the 2005 MIAA Tournament. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m.
