The Knights (11-4, 3-1 MIAA) broke the game wide-open with a big 20-0 run in a span of five minutes, 47 seconds of the first half clock. They went on to lead by as many as 30 points on two occasions, including 56-26, at halftime. The closest that the Fighting Comets (6-9, 0-4 MIAA) would get in the second half was 21 points, 72-51, at the 11:07 mark.
For the game, Olivet shot 40.3 percent (25-of-62) from the floor while the Knights shot 54.7 percent (35-of-64). Calvin also outrebounded the Comets, 44-26.
Junior Steve Johnson (Detroit/Murray Wright) scored a team-high 15 points for Olivet. Sophomore Jerame File (Jackson/Hanover-Horton) came off the bench to score 13 points, followed by junior Greg Ravy (New Orleans, La./L.B. Landry) and junior De'Andre Pruitt (River Rouge) with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Johnson, Pruitt and senior Ronnie Pearson (Holly) pulled down four rebounds apiece.
Dan Aultman had 21 points for the Knights. Kyle Trewhella chipped in with 20 points with six three-pointers. Brad Sall grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.
The Comets are next in action Wednesday, Jan. 19, when they travel to Holland to play Hope College at 7:30 p.m.
