Men's basketball team beats Wilberforce (Ohio), 87-82 in overtime
Junior center Gerald Dozie (Detroit/Southeastern) scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the men’s basketball team to an 87-82 overtime victory over Wilberforce (Ohio) University this afternoon in the consolation game of the Spring Arbor University (SAU) Jamieson-Allen Shootout. For his efforts, Dozie was named to the all-tournament team.

Dozie was one of five Fighting Comets (4-5) in double figures. Senior guard McKinsey Golfin (Flint Central) came off the bench to score 14 points. Senior Will Lee (Lansing Everett) contributed 13 points. Juniors Steve Johnson (Detroit/Murray Wright) and De'Andre Pruitt (River Rouge) chipped in with 11 points apiece. Pruitt pulled down eight rebounds and Johnson had seven.
Cameron Phillips scored a game-high 17 points to lead six Wilberforce (4-9) six in double digits. Victor Carter had 13 points and 13 rebounds.
The Comets are idle until Monday, Dec. 20, when they host Spring Arbor University in their home opener. Tip-off from the Upton Center is scheduled for 5 p.m.
