Following an 18-15 Lake State lead, the Fighting Comets (2-2) scored the next four points to take their only lead of the first half, 19-18, with 12:59 left. The Lakers surged ahead to lead by as many as eight points, including 55-47 at halftime.
Lake State extended its lead to 12 points, 79-67, at the 8:37 mark of the second half. Olivet put together a 17-6 run in just over four minutes to cut the deficit to one point, 85-84. The Lakers then put the game out of reach with an 11-3 run and a nine-point lead with 1:10 remaining in the contest.
Junior De'Andre Pruitt (River Rouge) led the Comets with a game-high 26 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the floor. Junior Greg Ravy (New Orleans, La./L.B. Landry) scored 23 points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. Senior Will Lee (Lansing/Everett) added 19 points off the bench.
The Lakers placed four five players, including four starters, in double figures. Steve McDonald had a team-high 25 points, followed by Jim Clement with 22 and Scott Jamison with 20. Clement and Jamison grabbed six rebounds apiece.
Olivet will next be in action Tuesday, Nov. 30, when it travels to play Wayne State University. Tip-off from the Matthaei Center is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
