Fighting Comets Fall to Spring Arbor, 79-71, in the Championship Game of the Spring Arbor Holiday Classic
The Olivet College men's basketball team fell to Spring Arbor University, 79-71, today in the championship game of the Spring Arbor Holiday Classic. With the loss, the Fighting Comets have a 5-3 overall record. The Cougers improve their record to 7-4.
SPRING ARBOR, MI. -- The Olivet College men's basketball team fell to Spring Arbor University, 79-71, today in the championship game of the Spring Arbor Holiday Classic. With the loss, the Fighting Comets have a 5-3 overall record. The Cougers improve their record to 7-4.
Senior forward Michael Dyson (Kalamazoo/ Loy Norrix High School) led the Comets with 16 points. Senior forward Patrick Dermeyer (Chase Reed City High School) and junior guard Matt Brawley (Niles High School) joined Dyson in double figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Brawley also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
Olivet will next play on Tuesday, Dec. 10 when it hosts The University of Michigan-Dearborn in a non-league game at the Upton Center at 7:30 p.m.
After eight games, Dyson leads the team in both scoring (20.0 ppg) and rebounding (6.0 rpg). He has also made a team-high 21 three-pointers. Brawley is second in scoring at 11.0 ppg. He has made 32-of-58 shots for a team-best 55.2 percent. Dermeyer is third in scoring at 9.8 ppg and second in rebounding at 4.6 rpg.
