Ieuter announces new UOlivet assistant football coaches
OLIVET, Mich. – The University of Olivet head football coach Erik Ieuter has announced the assistant coaches joining his staff. They are Ed Reny, Casey Huhn, Derek Williams, Doug Crawford, Kwame Sutton and Doug Atkins.
ED RENY
Reny will serve as the assistant head coach and coach the offensive line and tight ends, as well as be the recruiting coordinator. He comes to Olivet after being on Ieuter's coaching staff at Muskingum (Ohio) University since April 2020. Reny coached the offensive line and tight ends, as well as served as the strength and conditioning, and run game coordinator. Prior to that, he spent one season as the tight ends coach at Valparaiso (Ind.) University. Reny began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Wayne State University for two seasons.
In December 2016, Reny earned a bachelor's degree in marketing from WSU and in May 2019, he completed a master's degree in business administration from WSU. Reny was a four-year letterwinner on the Warriors' football team from 2012-16.
CASEY HUHN
Huhn will serve as the defensive coordinator and coach the linebackers, as well as be the strength and conditioning coordinator. He also joins the UOlivet staff after serving on the staff at Muskingum since July 2020. Huhn began his tenure as the running backs, tight ends and fullbacks coach before transitioning to be the special teams coordinator and defensive line coach. He started his collegiate coaching career as the defensive line coach at the College of St. Scholastica (Minn.) for one season.
Huhn earned a bachelor's degree in sports management from Marietta (Ohio) College in May 2019 and a master's degree in education from Muskingum in May 2022.
DEREK WILLIAMS
Williams will serve as the co-special teams coordinator and coach the defensive backs. He comes to Olivet after a two-year stint as a linebackers coach at Limestone (S.C.) University. Prior to that, Williams coached football at the high school level. He was the linebackers coach and assistant varsity baseball coach at Springfield (Ohio) High School for three years, and running backs and linebackers coach at Logan Elm (Ohio) High School for two seasons.
Williams earned a bachelor's degree in physical education and coaching from Ohio University and a master's degree in business administration and sport management from Limestone.
DOUG CRAWFORD
Crawford will serve as the co-special teams coordinator and coach the wide receivers. He most recently served as a graduate assistant coaching the running backs and fullbacks at Muskingum during the 2024 season. Crawford was an assistant coach at John Glenn (Ohio) High School for three seasons from 2021-23.
A native of Dade City, Florida, Crawford earned a bachelor's degree in sports administration from Muskingum in 2013. He earned two letters and played in 29 career games for the Fighting Muskies. As a senior in 2023, Crawford was the team's captain. He started every game and threw for 2,280 yards and 18 touchdowns on 195-of-295 passing. Crawford was also a part of the Muskingum esports program, serving as the captain for the Madden team.
KWAME SUTTON
Sutton will coach the defensive line. He joins the UOlivet staff after serving as the assistant tight end coach at Limestone for two seasons. Prior to that, Sutton was the football operations student assistant at Ohio University during the 2023 campaign.
Sutton began his collegiate playing career at Austin Peay State (Tenn.) University from June 2018-May 2013. He started more than 30 games and was a 2019 and 2022 All-Conference selection on the defensive line. Sutton finished his career at Ohio University for his final season in 2023, and played in 10 games and was named the preseason Mid-American Conference Newcomer of the Year.
Sutton earned a bachelor's degree in applied exercise science and master's degree in performance enhancement and coaching from Austin Peay.
DOUG ATKINS
Atkins will serve as the assistant defensive line coach. He graduated from Muskingum with a bachelor's degree in sports administration in May 2024 and is currently working on his master's degree in applied leadership from Muskingum.
A native of Fort Myers, Florida, Atkins played five seasons (2019, 2021-2024) of football for the Fighting Muskies. He saw action in 27 games on the defensive line and recorded 65 total tackles.
