The University of Olivet Announces Leadership Change in Football Program
Olivet, MI (Nov. 18, 2024) — The University of Olivet (UOlivet) has announced a leadership transition in its football program. After eight seasons with UOlivet, the administration has decided to release Dan Musielewicz from his role as head coach, effective immediately. Warren Maloney has been named Interim Head Coach of the Comets.
This decision reflects the institution's desire to take the program in a new direction under fresh leadership.
"We are grateful for Coach Musielewicz's contributions and commitment to our athletics department, the football program and our student-athletes," said Haley Diringer, JD, athletic director. "At The University of Olivet, we are dedicated to fostering an environment that champions our student-athletes personal growth and competitive spirit. This decision reflects our uncompromising commitment to building a program that aligns with our overall institutional aspirations and goals for excellence on and off the field in the seasons ahead."
During his tenure at UOlivet, Musielewicz initially served as the offensive and recruiting coordinator for five years under head coach Dan Pifer. Musielewicz stepped into the head coaching position in January 2017 following back-to-back Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association championships for the team. Since assuming the head coach role, Musielewicz led the team to a conference record of 21-28 and an overall record of 39-35.
The University will immediately commence a national search for a new head football coach.
