Olivet drops season-finale to Hope, 48-12

OLIVET, Mich. – The University of Olivet football team was defeated by Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Hope College, 48-12, this afternoon on Senior Day at the Cutler Athletic Complex. With the win, Hope secures the outright MIAA title and the league's automatic bid to the 2024 NCAA Division III Championships.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the first quarter, the Flying Dutchmen scored five touchdowns to take a 35-0 lead. Hope added another touchdown in the second quarter to lead 41-0 at halftime.
- The Flying Dutchmen capped their scoring with a third-quarter touchdown.
- Olivet scored its first touchdown with 3:54 left in the third quarter when senior SirQuarius Ball hauled in a 21-yard pass from junior Charlie Grant.
- The Comets closed out the scoring at the 10:03 mark of the fourth quarter. Junior Dontal Wright rushed three yards into the end zone for the touchdown. It was the first rushing touchdown Hope allowed this season.
FOR THE COMETS
- Olivet totaled 297 yards of offense compared to 441 for Hope.
- Wright led the ground game with 17 carries for 22 yards.
- Grant threw for 259 yards on 22-of-33 passing.
- Ball caught 11 passes for 135 yards. He ends his career tied for 10th with 84 receptions and 10th with 1,281 receiving yards.
- Seniors Amir Jones and Isaac Rowe, freshman Draven Langston and junior Dominico Tejeda each recorded seven tackles. Jones had five solo and two assisted tackles. One of Rowe's tackles was a quarterback sack for minus 13 yards.
