Olivet upended by Alma, 67-14

ALMA, Mich. – The University of Olivet football team suffered a 67-14 loss to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Alma College today at Bahlke Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Scots took a 13-0 lead behind a 28-yard and 81-yard touchdown passes by Carter St. John.
- The Comets got on the scoreboard for the first time when junior quarterback Thomas Foust rushed three yards into the end zone. Senior Tristan McElhinney made the PAT kick.
- Alma answered with two more touchdowns – 37-yard pass and 12-yard rush – stretch its lead to 26-7.
- Olivet scored its second touchdown on a 6-yard run by junior Dontal Wright at the 5:49 mark of the second quarter.
- The Scots made the score 33-14 at halftime after St. John threw a 40-yard touchdown pass.
- Alma outscored the Comets, 34-0, in the second half to create the 67-14 final score.
FOR THE COMETS
- For the game, the two teams combined for nearly 1,000 yards of offense. Olivet ran 80 plays for 399 yards compared to 54 plays and 580 yards for the Scots.
- Wright led the ground game with 25 carries for 126 yards.
- Foust completed 5-of-14 passes for 97 yards and rushed for 71 yards on 14 carries.
- Junior Nate Briggs caught two passes for 56 yards.
- Senior Anthony Gordon led the defense with five total tackles.
- Freshmen Rickey Smith III and Nathan Williams each had four tackles.

- Olivet plays two of its final three games at the Cutler Athletic Complex. The first is next Saturday, November 2, against Calvin University, starting at 1 p.m.
