UOlivet’s Bryan Carney earns 2026 CSC Academic All-America Team Member of the Year and Academic All-America® First Team honors
OLIVET, Mich. – Bryan Carney from The University of Olivet has been voted the 2026 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America NCAA Division III Baseball Team Member of the Year. He was also named to the CSC First Team Academic All-America®.
Carney was the ace of the Comets' pitching staff. Following a stellar season, he led all NCAA Division III pitchers with 122 strikeouts, 14.97 strikeouts per nine innings, 7.18 strikeout-to-walk ratio and 0.79 WHIP. His 1.35 ERA ranked second nationally among pitchers who threw at least 50 innings.
Carney earned numerous postseason honors, including D3baseball.com and American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-America First Team, D3baseball.com and ABCA All-Region 7 First Team, ABCA Region 7 Pitcher of the Year, Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Pitcher of the Year and All-MIAA First Team.
An insurance and risk management major, Carney concluded his Olivet career as the all-time strikeout leader with 288 and is fourth all-time with a 3.29 ERA and 15 wins. He also holds the single-game (18) and season (122) strikeout records.
Carney is the first baseball player in school history to earn Academic All-America® honors. Overall, Olivet has had 25 student-athletes earn 35 Academic All-America® citations. Carney is only the 12th student-athlete to earn First Team Academic All-America® honors. In addition, he joins Kellen Beckwith (swimming) and Ryan Anderson (football) as the only student-athletes in school history to be voted as the Academic All-America Team Member of the Year.
The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. The Division III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 Division III Academic All-America® programs.
