ALMA, Mich. – The University of Olivet baseball team split a pair of slugfests against Alma College today in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association doubleheader at Cornerstone University's De Witt Field. In game one, the Comets scored 11 runs in the eighth inning to post a 16-11 win. The Scots took the nightcap, 16-7.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
- Alma scored one run in the first and second innings. The Comets answered with five runs in the home half of the second. The Scots pushed across two runs in the fifth and three more runs in the eighth to take a 7-5 lead.
- Olivet then sent 16 batters to the plate and scored 11 runs in the bottom of the eighth. The Comets recorded 12 hits and seven different players drove in at least one run off three Alma pitchers. The Scots plated four runs in the ninth inning to create the 16-11 final score.
- For the game, Olivet totaled 20 hits, with all nine starters having at least one hit. Eight of the nine recorded multiple hits. At the top of the lineup, senior Brody Parten was 4-for-5 with three RBI. Senior Tyler Duncan went 3-for-5 with three RBI and three runs scored. Senior Mikey Kuzara also scored three runs. Senior Will Myrick also collected three RBI.
- On the mound, junior Logan Lewis earned the win. He tossed the final inning and one-third, giving up four runs on three hits. Freshman Dawson Sherman started and allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits and four walks, while striking out eight over five innings. Junior Austin Wittrock pitched two and two-thirds innings, yielding three runs (one earned) on four hits.
GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS
- The Scots took a 10-0 lead behind four runs in the first, two runs in the fourth, one run in the fifth and three runs in the seventh. The Comets dented the scoreboard for the first time with three runs in their half of the seventh inning. Alma responded with four runs in the top of eighth, but Olivet countered with two runs in the bottom of the inning to make the score 14-5. Both teams plated two runs in the ninth.
- The Comets totaled nine hits, including two doubles by Duncan. Junior EJ Suggitt hit a two-run homer, while Parten and senior Ray Strzynski each drove in two runs.
- Freshman Wyatt Ball made his first pitching appearance of the season and surrendered six runs (four earned) on seven hits and four walks over the first four innings. He was tagged with the loss.
