UOlivet comeback falls short in 10-9 loss at Ohio Wesleyan

DELAWARE, Ohio – The University of Olivet baseball team fell to Ohio Wesleyan University in a close non-conference game, 10-9, today at Littick Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the first inning, the Comets took a 3-0 lead behind a two-run single by junior EJ Suggitt and an RBI-single by senior Tyler Hall. The Battling Bishops scored nine runs over the next three innings, including five in the third, to take a 9-1 lead.
- Olivet started its comeback in the fifth when senior Braden Abbott hit an RBI-double. Senior Tyler Duncan blasted a three-run homer in the sixth inning to make the score 9-7. The Comets closed the gap to a run with a single tally in the top half of the seventh.
- OWU plated an unearned run in the home half of the seventh inning. In the eighth, Olivet scored a run and left the tying run stranded on base. The Comets were sent down 1-2-3 in the ninth.
FOR THE COMETS
- At the plate, Olivet out-hit the Battling Bishops, 14-8.
- Abbott was 4-for-5 with two doubles and two singles.
- Duncan, Hall and freshman Mario Ricard each recorded two base hits.
- Junior Charlie Quilliam suffered the pitching loss. He started on the mound and allowed five runs on four hits and five walks over two innings.

- Olivet plays its home-opener on Tuesday when Grace Christian University visits the Cutler Athletic Complex for a nine-inning game, with first pitch at 3 p.m.
