MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The University of Olivet baseball team posted a 1-1 record in a doubleheader against SUNY-Canton today at Ebbets Field. After losing the first game, 6-1, the Comets bounced back to win the second game, 16-1.
THE BASICS

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- The Comets took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when senior Ray Strzynski walked and came around to score on junior Austin Alflen's double down the left field line. The Roos scored six unanswered runs, including five in the fourth, to post the 6-1 win.
- Olivet's only hit in the game was Alflen's double. Junior Charlie Quilliam was tagged with the pitching loss. He allowed five earned runs on three hits and two walks over three and two-third innings.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- The Comets led 1-0 in the second inning behind an RBI-single by freshman Ryan Wiggins. Olivet needed only three hits to score seven runs in the third inning. The first hit of the inning was a two-run homer by junior Braden Abbott. Later in the inning, Wiggins hit a two-run single with the bases loaded. The Comets stretched their lead to 9-0 with a single tally in the fifth.
- The Roos dented the scoreboard for the first time in the home half of the fifth inning. Olivet quickly answered with a five spot in the top of sixth. The big hit was a three-run double by Wiggins. The Comets capped their scoring with a pair of runs in the seventh inning.
- At the plate, Wiggins was 4-for-5, with a double and three singles. He scored two runs and drove in six. Sophomore Brady Southfield had three hits and scored four runs. Freshman Mario Ricard also tallied three hits and scored three runs.
- On the mound, junior Austin Wittrock threw six innings to earn the win. He gave up one run on four hits.

- The Comets are back on the field tomorrow morning against Otterbein University (Ohio). First pitch from Crosley Field is scheduled for 9 a.m.
