UOlivet falls to Calvin, 11-4

OLIVET, Mich. – The University of Olivet baseball team fell to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Calvin University, 11-4, today at the Cutler Athletic Complex.
THE BASICS

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Calvin loaded the bases in the top of the first inning, but the Comets got out of the jam with a strikeout and ground out. Olivet loaded the bases in the second inning, but the Knights escaped the inning with a fly out and strikeout.
- Calvin scored its first run in the fifth inning on an RBI-groundout after a double and single put two runners on base. A hit by pitch and walk filled the bases before a groundout ended the inning.
- The Knights pushed across five runs in the sixth inning. The Comets plated three runs in their half of the sixth inning. Senior Brendan Monroe walked and went to third on sophomore Austin Alflen's double. A groundout off sophomore EJ Suggitt's bat brought home Monroe and moved Alflen to third. Two walks loaded the bases. Sophomore Jack Friesen then drove in Alflen and senior Mikey Kuzara.
- Calvin batted around and scored five more runs in the eighth inning. Friesen plated Kuzara with Olivet's final run in the last half of the eighth.
- At the plate, the Comets had just six hits. Friesen was 2-for-3 with three RBI. Alflen had two hits, including a double. On the mound, junior Bryan Carney was charged with the pitching loss. He allowed just one run on four hits over the first five innings. Freshman Teegan Glennon and senior Wyatt Leland each surrendered five runs in relief.

- Olivet travels to play Albion College next Wednesday, April 2. The first pitch at Champions Stadium is slated for 4 p.m.
