Baseball team drops doubleheader to Albion, 6-3 and 14-0
OLIVET, Mich. – On a cold and blustery day, the Olivet College baseball team was on the losing end of both games of a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) doubleheader to Albion College at the Cutler Athletic Complex.

- The Britons tallied two runs in the top half of the first inning.
- Olivet got one run back in the fifth inning on an RBI-single by senior Matt Fisher.
- Albion tallied four insurance in its half of the seventh inning.
- The Comets pushed across two runs in the bottom half of the seventh on a two-out throwing error by the second baseman.
- Olivet was held to four hits, including a 2-for-4 effort by Fisher.
- The other hits were by junior Matt Hewitt and senior John Kortz.
- Senior Max Daust suffered the pitching loss, as he gave up four runs on seven hits over the first six innings.
- Albion recorded eight hits.
- Zac Gray was 2-for-4 with three RBI.
- Sean Haddlesey had two hits.
- Mark Lauro drove in a pair of runs.
- Braeden Emery earned the complete game win on the mound.
- The Britons batted around and scored six runs in the first inning.
- Albion added one run in the third, two runs in the sixth and five runs in the seventh.
- Sophomore James Harris tallied two of Olivet's five hits.
- The other hits were by Hewitt, senior Logan Sella and freshman Matthew Fennell.
- Senior Zac Walter started on the mound, and lasted only one inning to be charged with the loss.
- Three relief pitchers threw in the game.
- The Britons had 14 hits, including three doubles.
- Justin Charron was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI.
- Haddlesey registered three hits, while scoring two runs.
- Lauro and Alex Cull each drove in two runs.
- Teddy Hirschfield picked-up the pitching win after throwing six innings. He yielded five hits, while striking out seven and not walking a batter.
"Today was a tough day at the yard for our squad," said Olivet head baseball coach Shelby Dixon. "We've got work to do and places to improve. Losing always sucks but we will bounce back. It's always a great day to be a Comet."
- The Comets face Hope College in their next MIAA series. The first two games are in Olivet Friday, April 2, and the final two games are Hope's Boeve Field Saturday, April 3. Friday's first game gets started at 2 p.m., and Saturday's first game gets under way at 1 p.m.
