OLIVET, Mich. -- Olivet College junior Sean Alexander (Fenton) has earned Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Co-Pitcher of the Week honors for baseball. He is sharing the honor with Phil Earls from Kalamazoo College.
Alexander threw a complete game, four-hitter in leading the Comets to a 1-0 victory at Hope College March 26. He did not walk a batter and struck out eight, including six on called third strikes. Combined with Olivet's 2-1 win in the first game, Alexander's gem allowed the Comets to sweep a MIAA doubleheader on the Flying Dutchmen's home field for the first time since 2000.
Olivet (4-8, 2-2 MIAA) will be back in action Thursday for a doubleheader at Kalamazoo, beginning at 2 p.m. The teams will then complete the four-game MIAA series with two games in Olivet Saturday at 1 p.m.
