Baseball team falls to #1 Heidelberg, 16-1
The baseball team dropped a 16-1 decision to Heidelberg (Ohio) University this morning at the Gene Cusic Classic and inside the Terry Sports Complex in Fort Myers, Fla. The ’Berg entered the game ranked No. 1 in the D3baseball.com Top 25 poll.

Heidelberg got off to a fast start with a pair of runs in the first inning and one more run in the second inning. Olivet scored its only run in the bottom half of the third when senior Braydon LaFramboise (Flushing/Mt. Morris) hit a two-out double in the right-centerfield gap to score senior Phil Sullens (Belleville). Sullens led off the inning with a single through the left side of the infield. The 'Berg tacked on three more runs in the fifth, five in the sixth, three in the seventh and two in the eighth.
The Comets collected six hits in the loss with six players each recording one hit. The only extra base hit was LaFramboise's double. Junior Sean Alexander (Fenton) was the losing pitcher, as he surrendered six runs on seven hits in four innings. Alexander struck out five batters.
Olivet will continue play tomorrow at the Gene Cusic Classic with a 1 p.m. contest against Haverford (Pa.) College.
