Baseball team drops 9-1 decision to Kenyon
The baseball team was held to only three hits in a 9-1 loss to Kenyon (Ohio) College today at the Gene Cusic Classic and inside Terry Park in Fort Myers, Fla.
FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Olivet College baseball team was held to only three hits in a 9-1 loss to Kenyon (Ohio) College today at the Gene Cusic Classic and inside Terry Park in Fort Myers, Fla.
After Kenyon scored two runs in the top half of the first inning, the Comets scored their only run in the bottom half of the first inning. Senior Braydon LaFramboise (Flushing/Mt. Morris) led off the inning with a walk, moved to second on a groundout and scored on an error by the Kenyon leftfielder.
The Lords pushed across another run in the second, two runs in the fifth, three in the sixth and one in the eighth. Only one of the runs allowed was unearned.
Senior Ben Kosmalski (Canton/Plymouth) had two of Olivet's three hits and both were singles. On the mound, junior Lee Cline (Mt. Morris) suffered the loss. He gave up five runs (four earned) on six hits in five innings.
The Comets are off tomorrow and will return to the field Friday night against Wheaton (Ill.) College. First pitch is slated for 7 p.m.
