Baseball team defeats Wabash, 14-10
The Olivet College baseball team scored 11 runs with two outs over a three-inning span on the way to a 14-10 victory over Wabash (Ind.) College on Saturday afternoon at Mud Hollow Field in Crawfordsville, Indiana.

College on Saturday afternoon at Mud Hollow Field in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Olivet will play two seven-inning games against the Little Giants on Sunday afternoon beginning at noon.
Wabash jumped out to a 2-0 lead after three innings. The Comets erased the deficit when two runners came around to score on a single by sophomore Chris Shelhart (Rolling Meadows, Ill./St. Viator).
After the first two outs were recorded in the fifth inning, Olivet scored three runs on two doubles and two Wabash errors. The Little Giants added a run in the sixth inning. The Comets then added two runs in the seventh inning after two outs were recorded.
Olivet broke the game open by scoring six runs with two outs in the eighth inning to take a 13-3 lead. In the inning, senior Beau Locker (Coldwater/Union City High School) blasted a three-run home run to right field and junior Brian Grappin (Flushing High School) hit a solo homer.
The Little Giants added four unearned runs in their half of the eighth inning. The Comets scored a run in the ninth. Wabash closed the game by scoring three in the ninth.
At the plate, Shelhart and juniors Matt Hurley (Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario/White Pines) and Ben Thomas (Kalamazoo/Comstock Park High School) had three base hits apiece. Thomas and Hurley scored four and three runs, respectively. Shelhart collected three RBIs.
On the mound, senior D.J. Celetti (Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario/Notre Dame) earned the victory after pitching seven innings. He struck out five batters and allowed six base hits and three earned runs. In relief, freshman Brian Schaeffer (Mason High School) pitched two innings.
Following today's doubleheader, the Comets will play a single nine-inning game at Concordia University on Tuesday, March 23 at 3 p.m.
