UOlivet men and women finish second and third at AHBA #5; Women win 2025-26 AHBA Championship, Good named Bowler of the Year
MONROE, Mich. – The University of Olivet women's and men's bowling teams finished second and third, respectively, at the American Heartland Bowling Association (AHBA) #5 today inside the Monroe Sports Center. The format was a set of three team games, followed by three baker sets (15 games). With today's finish, the Olivet women have captured the 2025-26 AHBA Championship and sophomore Adrianna Good was selected as the Women's Bowler of the Year! Olivet Assistant Coach Todd Richter was named the AHBA Women's Coach of the Year.
FOR THE COMET WOMEN
- After the three team games, the Comets trailed Alma College by 114 pins (2713 to 2817). Olivet closed the gap to 72 pins after the first five baker games and then down to 15 pins after the second set of bakers. The Scots pulled away in the final five baker games to win by 44 pins (5524 to 5568).
- Junior Della Ancel was the top overall bowler in today's event. She averaged 207.67 pins over the three games and high game was 256.
- Sophomore Brianna Fowlston placed seventh with a 189 average, with a high game of 234 pins.
- Good finished 10th, averaging 186 pins.
- The Comet junior varsity squad took first for the AHBA #5 event. Junior Brooklyn Page and freshman Aubrie Rush paced the JV team with 195 and 174 averages, respectively.
FOR THE COMET MEN
- Following the three team games, Olivet was in first place, leading Madonna University by 23 pins (2992 to 2969). The Comets' lead shrank to 19 pins after the first baker set. Olivet slipped to second after the second baker set and ultimately fell to third at the end of the day. The Comets totaled 5,774 pins. Davenport University was first with 6,012 pins.
- Freshman Brenden Haley finished first of 51 bowlers. He posted a 230.33 average over the three games. His best game was 256.
- Sophomore Kory Nurse posted a 196.33 average and had a high game of 244 pins.
- Junior Ryen Grigg was not far behind with a 192.33 average, including a high game of 234.
- The Comets placed fourth in the final 2025-26 ABCA standings.
