UOlivet men’s bowling team captures team title at Comet Classic

LANSING, Mich. – The University of Olivet women's bowling team captured the team title at its own tournament; the 2025 Comet Classic held today at Royal Scot Golf & Bowl.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The format of the tournament consisted of three team games and 12 baker games. The Comet men's varsity team won the team title by 181 pins over runner-up Brescia (Ill.) University – 5091 to 4910. Jackson College was third at 4883, followed by Bowling Green (Ohio) State University, 4846; Mid-Michigan College, 4708; Saginaw Valley State University, 4630; and Ferris State University, 4346.
- Sophomore Kory Nurse finished sixth in the individual standings, as he totaled 601 pins (200.33 average). His scores were 226, 191 and 184.
- Junior Ryen Grigg was 14th with a 557 total (186-191-180).
- Freshman Nick Suemnick bowled the high game of the tournament with a 255. After starting the game with an open in the first frame, he bowled eight straight strikes.
- The Comet men's junior varsity team placed second with a 4098. Ferris State was first at 4565.
- Sophomore Nicholas Brown led the JV squad with a 581 to finish eighth.
- Sophomore Brady Louthan posted a 172.67 average over his three games.
UP NEXT
- Olivet is off until Saturday and Sunday, October 25-26, when it bowls at the first two American Heartland Bowling Association events. They will take place at Super Bowl in Canton, Michigan.
