Comets of the Week - November 4, 2024
The Female Comet of the Week is freshman Brianna Fowlston, of Oxford, New York, and graduate of Oxford Academy High School. Fowlston totaled 735 pins over four games at the American Heartland Bowling Association #3, held at Star Lanes in Sandusky, Ohio. She placed sixth of 52 women’s bowlers, and the team finished third of nine teams.
The Male Co-Comet of the Week is senior Emmett Kettel, of Columbus, and graduate of Richmond High School. Kettel posted a 3-0 record to win the 133-pound title at the Muskegon Community College (MCC) Ben McMullen Open. He started the day with a 9-0 major decision over Dominic Megdanoff from Alma College and then pinned Dawson Kilpatrick from MCC in the semifinals. In the championship match, Kettel pinned Michael Catanzaro from SUNY-Niagara with six seconds left in the second period. Catanzaro qualified for the 2024 NJCAA National Championships.
The Male Co-Comet of the Week is junior Dominico Tejeda, of Allendale, and graduate of Allendale High School. Tejeda recorded eight total tackles in helping the football team defeat Calvin University, 21-13. Of his eight stops, two were quarterback sacks for minus 14 yards.
