Women’s track and field team participates in All-American Meet
The Olivet College women’s track and field team participated in the All-American Meet, hosted by Adrian College today at the Adrian Track and Field Complex.
ADRIAN, Mich. – The Olivet College women's track and field team participated in the All-American Meet, hosted by Adrian College today at the Adrian Track and Field Complex.
On the track, the Comets' 4x100-meter relay was fourth (:51.86). Individually, junior Becca Gaarde (Parma/Western) tied for fourth-place in the 100-meter dash (:13.52) and was seventh in the 100-meter hurdles (:17.73).
Freshman Brandi Rimmer (Flint/Carman Ainsworth) placed fourth in the 200-meter dash (:27.39) and sixth in the 100-meter hurdles (:17.70). Sophomore Jenna Mayle (Ionia) was eighth in the 100-meter dash (:14.36).
Sophomore Sara Wegener (Lansing/Lansing Catholic) turned in top five performances in each of her three field events. The top placement was second in the discus with a 120 feet, 4 inch throw. She was fifth in the hammer (124 feet) and shot put (34 feet). Wegener's throw in the hammer broke her own school record.
Sophomore Rachael Wagner (Clinton Twp./Fraser) cleared the high jump bar at 4 feet, 9 inches, which placed her seventh. Sophomore Katie Thelen (St. Johns) finished eighth in the discus (101 feet, 1 inch).
Olivet will travel to Albion College next Saturday, April 14, for the 2012 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree.
