The Olivet College women's golf team sits in ninth-place after the first round of the Washington (Mo.) University Spring Invitational at the Gateway National Golf Links in Madison, Ill. The second round of the tournament gets under way tomorrow morning with a 9 a.m. CT shotgun start.
MADISON, Ill. – The Olivet College women's golf team sits in ninth-place after the first round of the Washington (Mo.) University Spring Invitational at the Gateway National Golf Links in Madison, Ill. The second round of the tournament gets under way tomorrow morning with a 9 a.m. CT shotgun start.
The Comets carded a 350 team score, which is three strokes behind Saint Mary's (Ind.) College. Wittenberg (Ohio) University is fifth at 343, followed by Illinois Wesleyan University in sixth at 345 and St. Olaf (Minn.) College at 346. William Woods (Mo.) University leads the 20-team field with a 314. Myriam Hassan and Jodie Peacock from WWU and Abby Dikcey from DePauw all share the top spot in the player standings with 76s.
Junior Theresa Damico (White Lake/Lakeland) posted Olivet's best score with an 81, which places her in a tie with Hannah Buck from WashU for 11th-place in the player standings. Junior Adrienne Plourde (Redford/Thurston) was next with an 87. Junior Ashley Stark (Grass Lake) completed her round in 90 strokes. Freshmen Brooke Kastamo (Howell/Hartland) and Casey Lamp (Kalamazoo/Hackett Catholic) each needed 92 strokes.
Following tomorrow's round, Olivet will compete at the 2013 Illinois Wesleyan University Spring Fling April 13-14 at the Ironwood Golf Course in Normal, Ill.
