Women's golf team finishes in third-place at Franklin Invitational
The Olivet College women's golf team stepped away from conference play today and finished in third-place at the Franklin (Ind.) College Invitational, which was played at the Legends of Indiana Golf Club.
FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Olivet College women's golf team stepped away from conference play today and finished in third-place at the Franklin (Ind.) College Invitational, which was played at the Legends of Indiana Golf Club.
The Comets posted a 342 team score. The host Grizzlies led the seven-team field with a 327. Hanover (Ind.) College took runner-up honors with a 336. College of Mount St. Joseph (Ohio) was fourth at 371, followed by Transylvania (Ky.) University, 375; Rose-Hulman (Ind.) Institute of Technology, 377; and Manchester (Ind.) University, 384.
Freshman Casey Lamp (Kalamazoo/Hackett Catholic) and junior Adrienne Plourde (Redford/Thurston) each carded an 82 to be a part of a five-way tie for fourth-place in the individual standings. Junior Theresa Damico (White Lake/Lakeland) needed 86 strokes to complete her round. Junior Ashley Stark (Grass Lake) and freshman Brooke Kastamo (Howell/Hartland) had a 92 and 95, respectively.
Olivet now turns its attention to the final three rounds of Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play. The first round will be played Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Lenawee Country Club in Adrian, and the last two rounds will be played Friday and Saturday, Oct. 12-13, at the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek. At the halfway point of the league schedule, the Comets have a 33-stroke lead over Hope College.
