Women’s golf team finishes in fourth-place Anderson Invitational

ANDERSON, Ind. -- The Olivet College women's golf team finished in fourth-place at the 2010 Anderson (Ind.) University Invitational, which was played at the Killbuck Golf Course in Anderson, Ind.

After posting a 333 team score in Saturday's first round, the Comets improved by 10 strokes today for a two-round total of 656 strokes. DePauw (Ind.) University won the tournament with a 632. Hanover (Ind.) College and Transylvania (Ky.) University were second and third, respectively.

Junior Lauren Campbell (Fenton) led Olivet with a two-round total of 159 strokes (80-79). Senior Amber Conrad (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) was next at 161 strokes (79-82). Freshman Theresa Damico (White Lake/Lakeland) shot a 164, including a team-low 78 in today's round. Senior Abby Wheeler (Grayling) had a two-day total of 172 strokes (88-84), followed by freshman Adrienne Jones (Redford/Thurston) at 179 (90-89).

The Comets will now begin their pursuit of a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association championship Saturday, Sept. 11, by playing in the first league jamboree at the Pine River Country Club in Alma.
