Men’s swimming and diving team defeated by Ohio Northern, 158-81
The Olivet College men’s swimming and diving team lost a dual meet to Ohio Northern University, 158-81, tonight at Hillsdale College’s Jack McAvoy Natatorium.
HILLSDALE, Mich. – The Olivet College men's swimming and diving team lost a dual meet to Ohio Northern University, 158-81, tonight at Hillsdale College's Jack McAvoy Natatorium.
The Comets earned first-place finishes in three individual events. Freshman Troy Wilkins (Lansing/Everett) scored first-place points in both diving events, with 252.40 points on the one-meter board and 244.05 points on the three-meter board. Junior Ben Aldrich (DeWitt/St. Johns) won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:50.69.
Olivet also placed second in five individual events and both relays. The individuals were junior Nick Aldrich (DeWitt/St. Johns) in the 100-yard breaststroke, 1:02.79; sophomore Georges Aoun (Barquisimeto, Venezuela/San Vicente de Paul) in the 200-yard individual medley, 2:02.20; sophomore Jimmy DeRupa (Trenton) in the 100-yard freestyle, :50.34; senior Nick Edgar (Lansing/Everett) in the 100-yard backstroke, :55.68; and junior Korey Mervenne (Jenison) in the 1,000-yard freestyle, 10:23.63.
Swimming on the second-place 200-yard medley relay were Edgar, freshman Taylor Howard (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead), Aoun and freshman Eric Dawdy (Holt). Their time was 1:40.50. The 200-yard freestyle relay quartet was Ben Aldrich, sophomore Phil Bielak (Brownstown/Woodhaven), DeRupa and Dawdy, and it finished in 1:30.18.
The Comets are idle until Nov. 20-Dec. 1 when they participate in the Calvin College Winter Invitational.
