INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Olivet College men's 800 freestyle relay team of senior Austin Munn (Pinckney), sophomore Brian Fiorillo (Southgate/Anderson), senior Mike Harden (St. Johns) and sophomore Ben Aldrich (DeWitt/St. Johns) set school records this morning at the 2012 NCAA Division III National Championships at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind. "I am so proud of the guys," said Olivet Head Coach Jake Taber. "They did a great job in the race, and went out and broke the school record by more than three seconds. They improved on their seed, and I could not be any happier. Austin also turned in a great time, and will now find his name in the Olivet record book for an individual event."
In addition at this morning's prelims, junior Nick Edgar (Lansing/Everett) and freshman Phil Barone, Jr. (Perrysburg, Ohio/St. Francis de Sales) swam in the 100 backstroke and 100 breaststroke, respectively. Each posted the 24th fastest time, with Edgar finishing a season-best time of 51.32 seconds in the backstroke and Barone, Jr. stopping the clock at 57.70 seconds in the breaststroke.
"Nick and Phil had great swims," said Taber. "They also improved on their seeds. This meet has been a great one for all of our swimmers because it gives them an experience they will never forget."
In tomorrow's final day of action, Fiorillo will swim in the 100 freestyle, and the 400 freestyle relay will also take place.
