Men’s soccer team tripped up by Calvin, 8-0

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Olivet College men's soccer team fell to defending Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) champion Calvin College, 8-0, tonight at Zuidema Field in Grand Rapids.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Knights led 2-0 at halftime behind a pair of goals in a four and 1/2 minute span.
  • Calvin added six second-half goals.

FOR THE COMETS

  • Olivet was held to just one shot in the game, with junior David Magallon recording it.
  • Freshman Justin Lavin allowed the first five goals, while freshman Brendan Morse surrendered the final three goals. Both keepers made four saves.

FOR THE KNIGHTS

  • Calvin peppered the goal with 37 total shots, with 16 being placed on-frame.
  • Eight different players scored a goal, and Trent Vegter added three assists.
  • Nate Van Ryn picked-up the shutout win in goal.
