Men’s soccer team ends season with 2-1 loss at Hope

HOLLAND, Mich. – The Olivet College men's soccer team closed out its 2016 campaign with a 2-1 loss to Hope College tonight at the Van Andel Soccer Stadium in Holland.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Comets led 1-0 at halftime behind junior Vince Geremia's first goal of the season and only second of his collegiate career. Senior Gregory Petty earned the assist on the goal.
  • The Flying Dutchmen evened the score at 1-1 with a goal by Dalton Bruso in the seventh minute of the second half.
  • Christian Dault netted what proved to be the game-winner in the 73rd minute.

FOR THE COMETS

  • Olivet was limited to four total shots in the game.
  • Petty led the way with a pair of shots.
  • Junior Nathan Weeks faced 24 shots in goal and collected eight saves.

FOR THE FLYING DUTCHMEN

  • Dault had eight of the 24 Hope shots.
  • Bruso recorded three shots.
  • Blair McCormick stopped one shot while playing all 90 minutes in goal.
